Since we're living temporary and small (plus I hate buying plastic), we use shoeboxes (the robust kind with attached lids) to group key things in our 'utility closet'. For example: Condo Garage, Batteries, Lightbulbs, Gardening. The limited size means you can't accumulate, and a nice label covers up the box printing. Soothing, free, minimal waste.
